Want to buy 3D printing filament?
At 3Dprinters-Store.com you will find an extensive range of 3D print filament. In many different colors and materials. 3D printer filament is the material with which your 3D printer prints. Below is an explanation about the 3D filament and what you should pay attention to when purchasing it. There is a difference in the quality and type of materials of the different filament types.
3D Printer Filament types.
There are many types of 3D filament. The first step when buying 3D filament is of course thinking about what you want to print. Should it become a functional part, should it become a decorative object, etc. Based on this, you can choose the right type of filament. For example, the widely used PLA filament (perfect for beginners), a weather-resistant ASA or a beautiful wood-like filament.
Diameter of the 3D printing filament.
To make it easy, there are two different diameter sizes. 1.75mm and 2.85mm. Most 3D printers will print with 1.75mm. Brands like Ultimaker and BCN3D print with 2.85mm filament. So check this first. Almost all the 3D printer filament we sell is available in both sizes. An exception to this are, for example, Ultimaker filament and Zortrax filament. When purchasing your filament, it is advisable to double check the delivery time. For example, with Innofil3D Pro1, we offer 1.75mm and 2.85mm. This filament is actually always in stock with us. However, it can happen that 1 of the 2 sizes is used up for a while. This is only indicated when you click on the size.
The most popular filament at the moment is PLA filament. The 3D printer filament that prints pleasantly on any FDM printer. In addition, PLA is also extremely suitable for gaining printing experience. For the more demanding projects we also have different types of Tough PLA filament. Also called reinforced PLA.
PETG filament is almost as popular. PETG filament is just as easy to print, but much stronger, transparent, very good adhesion of the layers and 100% recyclable.
ABS filament can be a little more challenging to print. But with a dense 3D printer, heated bed and the right settings, you can also make the most fantastic prints with ABS filament. ABS filament is of course mainly known for the great mechanical properties of this material.
Nylon filament is mainly printed by professional users. Nylon filament is very sensitive to moisture, so you have to be careful with that. Nylon filament offers several advantages such as durability, flexibility, hardness, good chemical resistance and UV light resistance.
PVA filament is also known as a water-soluble support filament. This allows you to print support structures that you can later dissolve in water. This makes 3D printing of complex shapes a lot more pleasant. You do need a Dual-Extrusion 3D printer for this.
BVOH filament is also water soluble just like PVA. In addition, BVOH offers a lot of advantages, such as in the field of 3D printing convenience.
BASf Ultrafuse 316L steel filament for FFF 3D printers.
Besides the above filaments, there are of course many more types of 3D printer filament. Such as PEEK, Polywood, Easywood, ASA, PP etc.. So we have the suitable material for almost every application. If something is still missing, or do you prefer another brand? Feel free to ask us. Then we will see if we can still deliver it to you. This is usually possible within a few days.

3D printer PLA filament
Together with ABS, PLA is one of the oldest 3D printer filaments on the market. This thermoplastic is a synthetic polymer classified as a polyester. Natural raw materials from renewable materials such as cornstarch are mainly made to make PLA. PLA filament is cheap, easy to 3D print and also ideal for beginners. It hardly warps and is ideal for making prototypes and models. Because of these properties, PLA is one of the most commonly used materials in 3D printers.
Advantages of PLA
- Good, affordable material for your 3D printer.
- Easy to print and therefore fast and good results.
- Made from organic raw materials and recyclable.
- Can be printed at relatively low temperatures.
- Almost every 3D printer can handle PLA.
Disadvantages of PLA
- Low temperature resistance.
- Not very resistant to chemicals.
- Decomposes over time due to weather conditions.
- PLA absorbs moisture, so it should always be stored in a dry place.
Applications for PLA.
- Prototypes and model construction using a 3D printer.
- Large format 3D printed models for art, education and architecture.
- Recyclable and biodegradable packaging.
