Precision PLA filament was developed specifically for the MakerBot Method 3D printer. Polylactide (PLA) is a biodegradable thermoplastic that is derived from renewable resources (e.g. corn starch). Precision PLA Filament offers many positive properties and is particularly suitable for office use as it is non-toxic, almost completely odorless, and easy to print with high reliability and dimensional accuracy.
MakerBot Method materials are manufactured to exact diameter and quality specifications and shipped in a vacuum-sealed Mylar bag to maintain quality until opened. The filament located on the Smart Spool™ provides information such as material type, color, and remaining quantity directly to MakerBot Print via an RFID chip. Each spool also contains a desiccant to ensure low moisture content in the drawer.
