The 100 percent biodegradable, eco-friendly MakerBot PLA filament is made from natural corn starch and is free of additives such as heavy metals, plasticizers and bisphenol A. PLA is the abbreviation for polylactide. The biocompatible plastic has a melting temperature of 150 - 160 °C and a diameter of 1.75 millimeters. Due to its high viscosity, short as well as long overhangs, ceilings and bottoms and narrowest corners and edges can be produced. These properties allow us to create very precise 3D prints with the bioplastic. In addition, the grip on the build plate is increased and dripping from the extruder nozzle is prevented.
